Places to Visit & Things To Do

Santa Teresa & Mal-Pais

Santa Teresa and Mal-Pais are two small towns located on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica. They are known for their beautiful beaches, great surf breaks, and laid-back atmosphere.

Santa Teresa is the larger of the two towns and has a range of accommodations, restaurants, and shops. It attracts a mix of surfers, yogis, and travelers who are looking to enjoy the beach and the natural surroundings. The town is located on a long stretch of beach, which is perfect for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing. The waves here are consistent and can be surfed by all levels of surfers, from beginners to advanced.

Mal-Pais is a smaller town located just north of Santa Teresa. It is known for its pristine beaches, great surf breaks, and unspoiled natural beauty. The town has a more secluded feel, with fewer restaurants and accommodations than Santa Teresa. The waves here are a bit more challenging than those in Santa Teresa, and it is a popular spot for experienced surfers looking for more advanced breaks.

Both towns are surrounded by lush jungle and offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, and zip-lining. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including howler monkeys, iguanas, and tropical birds.
